Open Letter
Whereas Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore created harmful racial division when he falsely claimed that the 2000 presidential election was “stolen” from him and that African Americans in Florida were disenfranchised, even though a second recount of Florida votes by the “Miami Herald” and a consortium of major news organizations confirmed that he lost the election, and a ruling by the U.S. Civil Rights Commission declared that African Americans were not denied the right to vote,
Whereas the Democratic Party's soft bigotry of low expectations and social promotions have consigned African Americans to economic bondage and created a culture of dependency on government social programs,
Whereas the Democratic Party's use of deception and fear to block welfare reform, the faith-based initiative and school choice that would help African Americans prosper is consistent with the Democratic Party's heritage of racism that included sanctioning of slavery and kukluxery, a perversion of moral sentiment among leaders of the Democratic Party whose racist legacy bode ill until this generation of African Americans,
Now, therefore, for the above and other documented atrocities and accumulated wrongs inflicted upon African Americans, we demand a formal written apology and other appropriate remuneration from the leadership of the Democratic party.###

Red & Blue
The maintenance of democratic institutions demands that partisan spokesmen, while differing on matters of ideology, adhere as closely as possible to truth, fairness, and decency, conducting themselves as honorable men and women. But with that as our standard for political discourse, how can we expect to remain “one nation, under God” when one side continually “poisons the well” of political debate?
In his October 14 “To The Point” column, Dr. Jack Wheeler warns that, in the upcoming elections, Democrats are going to “Floridize all of America. They are going to cheat on a scale that dwarfs anything this country has ever seen… not just because Democrats are deranged with Bush-hatred. It’s because in their left-wing hearts they are Marxists. Marxists who hate capitalism and employers… Marxists whose (only) morality is that the ends justify the means.
“The Democratic Party is now dominated by people who feel they have the moral right to cheat and lie and intimidate, by people who are willing, if not eager, to discredit and ruin America’s entire electoral system…”
We are now nearing the end of a campaign in which virtually every Democratic leader has engaged in the most egregious kind of dishonesty, on almost every issue. They’ve attempted to frighten young people and parents by raising the specter of a military draft; they’ve attempted to energize African-Americans by insisting that Republicans intend to disenfranchise them; they’ve attempted to frighten seniors by claiming that Republicans will take Social Security away from them; and in the most loathsome pander of all, they’ve appealed to paraplegics by promising them freedom from their wheelchairs – if only they will elect John Kerry as President of the United States.
How could any political party stoop so low? They have abandoned all pretense at common decency, but their words are grist for the uneducated, the uninformed, the gullible, the angry, and the spiteful. But what of the aftermath? Can the genie be put back into the bottle? Can the stink be put back onto the skunk?
When all the votes are counted the map of the United States will likely be painted solid red all across the south, from Arizona to Virginia, with a mixture of red and blue from California to Maine. So if that’s the way we see ourselves, and if we can no longer live together in trust and mutual respect, we may all be a lot happier as two nations: one free, the other authoritarian socialist.
Of one thing we can be sure: the time would come when memories of the Berlin Wall would be rekindled and history would repeat itself. Citizens of Blue America would risk life itself to escape to Red America. That much is certain.
