An Open Letter to the Democrat Party

By Lt. Colonel  Frances Rice,U.S. Army  Retired: Contributor to the LHI

"We, African American citizens of the United States, declare and assert:

Whereas in the early 1600’s 20 African men and women were landed in Virginia from a Dutch ship as slaves and from that tiny seed grew the poisoned fruit of plantation slavery which shaped the course of American development,

Whereas reconciliation and healing always begin with an apology and an effort to repay those who have been wronged,

Whereas atrocities and racist practices committed against African Americans during the past two hundred years, nor for the residual impact that those atrocities and practices and current soft bigotry of low expectations are having on us today,

Whereas the Democratic Party fought to expand slavery and, after the Civil War, established Jim Crow Laws, Black Codes and other repressive legislation that were designed to disenfranchise African Americans,

Whereas the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party, and their primary goal was to intimidate and terrorize African American voters, Republicans who moved South to protect African Americans and any other whites who supported them,

Whereas, according to leading historians (both black and white), the horrific atrocities committed against African Americans during slavery and Reconstruction were financed, sponsored, and promoted by the Democratic Party and their Ku Klux Klan supporters,

Whereas from 1870 to 1930, in an effort to deny African Americans their civil rights and to keep African Americans from voting Republican, thousands of African Americans were shot, beaten, lynched, mutilated, and burned to death by Ku Klux Klan terrorists from the Democratic Party,

Whereas Democratic Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman rejected anti-lynching laws and efforts to establish a permanent Civil Rights Commission,

Whereas the Democratic party has used racist demagoguery to deceive African Americans about the history of the Republican Party that.

Standing With My Friends on Natural Gas

By U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander

I have had a lot to say lately about the importance of using clean energy - like natural gas, nuclear power and coal gasification - so that we can have cleaner air.  I have supported legislative proposals that go farther, faster than President Bush in restricting emissions from coal-fired power plants.  I have urged stricter conservation measures.

But, as Paul Harvey would say, here's the rest of the story.  Our failure to produce an adequate supply of clean energy not only pollutes the air, it is shipping thousands of good jobs overseas.

I recently hosted a roundtable of Tennessee farmers and large employers to discuss one of the most severe of these supply problems: natural gas.

During the last four years U.S. natural gas prices have gone from the lowest in the industrialized world to the highest.  Our farms and large industries were built to operate on $2 to $3 mmBtu natural gas prices.  Today's price of $6.75 shutters barns and ships chemical jobs overseas.

For example, Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport has provided several thousand good paying jobs for three generations.  Eastman uses natural gas for energy and as a raw

Watch Out!

By C. Grady Drago,

The Liberals in and out of Government are no longer even trying to disguise their attempts to silence opposition to their views. Not since the Sedition Act of June 1798 (and its companion statute allowing deportation of problem aliens) has one political party and ideology tried harder to silence dissent and free speech.

Political correctness is perhaps the most subtle and insidious attempt to silence any open debate or criticism of liberal viewpoints. While it is not a federal crime, yet, it certainly carries penalties to speak ill of any policy or group the liberals are promoting.

“NAZI” (Which was a Socialist movement - the National Socialist German Workers Party), “Racist”, “Bigot”, are just some of the tags thrown at people in an attempt to silence and discredit out-of-hand, opposing opinions.

As an example, by expressing your opinion that the liberal Hollywood crowd’s views were wrong, weird, or anti-American, you open yourself to being called a

NAZI.  To them, freedom of speech is a one-way street -- they can present the opinion that you are wrong, but you cannot express the opinion that their opinions are wrong without facing an irrational hysterical onslaught that you are trying to silence free speech. \

The real purpose of the Liberal's is not freedom of speech, but  "prevention of speech" by those not agreeing with them. A perfect example has been their attempts to prevent compaign commericials in opposition to Kerry from even being aired by aatttempting  to indimidate the broadcast outlets.

They use the tactics they profess to hate as a weapon to silence those that disagree with them. Perhaps the most aggressive and devastating activities take place on college campuses where young minds can be intimidated into silence or threatened with a poor grade by not buying into the agenda of liberal professors. This effort to silence opposition is evidence of a corrupt, dishonest, weakened, and dying movement. The interesting anomaly is that a majority of Americans oppose their views.

The World Becomes Even More Bizarre

In The Name of ...

By Tom DeWeese

Someone has messed with the time continuum and thrown the world into an alternative universe. I present the following items as proof.

Item 1.  A Washington State school district canceled its annual Halloween celebration because it’s disrespectful to real witches. “Witches with pointy noses and things like that are not respective symbols of the Wiccan religion and so we want to be respectful of that,” said Puyallup School District spokeswoman Karen Hansen.

On the district’s list of guidelines related to holidays and celebrations is an item that reads: “Use of derogatory stereotypes is prohibited, such as the traditional image of a witch, which is offensive to members of the Wiccan religion.”  “I do lots of things that are not revolving around wearing a black outfit and stirring a cauldron,” said Wiccan priestess Cheryl Sulyma-Masson.

Parents shouldn’t be surprised that witches and their “religion” are being protected in public schools since the advocating of running naked in the woods, hugging trees and worshipping Mother Earth (normal Wiccan practices) are all now part of the regular classroom discussions in many school districts.

Item 2. The City of Oakland, California has stopped setting up roadblocks to check whether drivers are under the influence because of a rash of complaints from the Latino community. It seems the DUI checkpoints are trapping more than drunks. Apparently they have ensnared dozens of illegal aliens who are not licensed to drive “yet otherwise obey the law.”

“These checkpoints make people’s lives miserable, not make them safer,” said Jesus Rodriguez of Oakland Community Organizations, which has filed most of the complaints. “I’ve watched while police have towed away cars (full) of groceries, leaving children crying on the sidewalk.”

Now, Oakland is creating new checkpoint guidelines which may call for police to notify Latino community organizations of the time and location of coming checkpoints. “It’s simple common sense,” said City Councilman Ignacio De La Fuente.

. “You don’t want to stop people from going to or from work. If there are kids in the car, give someone an opportunity to call someone to pick up their kids rather than create chaos.”

So let’s get this straight. Legal Americans, who have tried for years
